I still vividly remember the day that Jurassic Park premiered in my town, despite only being ten years old; it was a huge event.
The movie really made an impression on me as a child and not just because of the dinosaurs. I was most inspired by the vast landscapes and dream-like land. Since that day, visiting Kauai has been on my bucket list.
Now that I live in Los Angeles, I have never been closer to the "Garden Island," and I decided it was time for me to visit this slice of heaven.
I packed my basic gear for the trip:
Canon 5D Mark III
24-70mm f.2.8
Carbon fiber tripod Sirui T-1205X (Since I was planning to do a lot of hiking, I bought this lightweight tripod.)
Big Stopper 10 stops neutral density filter
Once I arrived, I rented a van camper to have the freedom to travel anywhere I wanted on the island. I checked the weather forecast, and I couldn't have been happier with what I found: RAIN, RAIN, and more RAIN.
There is nothing that I love more than rainy, cloudy days for my photography. I love the serenity of grey days; they bring out an inner calm in me that makes me feel at peace. Not many people enjoy being outside on wet days, so I'm often on my own, which is perfect for me. I have all the time in the world to do what I love.
Here are some of my favorite landscape photos I took during my trip.
