I'm excited to announce that I've been nominated as American Emerging Photographer of 2015 by Pulitzer Prize-winning photo editor Stella Kramer and United Photo Industries for my work "The Disturbing Beauty of Sphynx Cats".
United Photo Industries (UPI) is the main organiser of Photoville New York, the largest annual photographic event in New York City, and among the most-attended photographic events nationwide with more than 71.000 visitors.
Each year, UPI works with more than 80 curatorial partners such as Instagram, The NY Times, TIME Magazine, National Geographic, The Pulitzer Center, the Magnum Foundation, and so many more, to select the work of more than 400 visual artists to create 62 exhibitions in shipping containers.
This year, and for the first time, UPI asked five authorities in the photography industry to nominate 4 emerging photographers each to be part of a special edition at Photoville New York. These curators were: Elizabeth Avedon, Stella Kramer, James Estrin, Jamel Shabazz and Jerry Vezzuso.
At the end, UPI selected a total of 10 emerging photographers to exhibit their work at Photoville. The 10 emerging photographers, which I have the honor to be part of, will have our own space to showcase the work. This space is called Emergi-Cubes, a 4x4ft palette that we can transform the way we want to.
The exhibition will take place at Brooklyn Bridge Park from the 10-20th of September and it's FREE to the public.
Now, it's time for me to work on the production of the photos (which needs to be waterproof!) and get everything ready for my trip to New York City.
I'm very excited and I can't wait to visit it again!
I hope to see you there!
Here's are some of the images that I've chose to exhibit at Photoville. You can see the entire project here.
